So, this is my first ever blog post, and I really have no idea what to write... so here goes.
This is a simple little blog for people who don't want to, or can't afford to, buy products such as MAC, Smashbox or Bobbi Brown.
I'm currently studying to be a beauty therapist, so as part of my uniform for class, I need to wear make up. Basically, I don't see the point in wearing it just for a class of girls who couldn't care less how well your colours are blended or how great your contouring is because of their own vanity, so I figure I'll post a photo of my makeup nearly every Monday through to Friday...
I'll give a little description of the colours I used (and their corresponding product lines, if they're not unbranded), the sort of brushes I used, and how long it took me to do them. I'll also comment on how well the makeup lasted, how many times I needed to reapply anything, and if the colours ran or creased.
That's the plan, at least.
At the moment, I haven't had any lessons in how to do makeup, and really have only learnt how to do it from looking at pictures of other people, and watching a few tutorials here and there. I have to do a shoutout to another blogger, Sarah because she's usually the one who has to suffer through me showing her my makeup whenever I go out somewhere.
Now all that's out of the way, here is a brief summary of the brands I like to use. They're not really high-class products, so in a way, I consider them unbranded. People instantly recognise lines like MAC or Bobbi Brown, but you'll be hard pressed to find someone outside my little pocket of the world that knows about Australis or BYS.
My favourite brands to use are:
ZA New York: a skincare and makeup range with prices from $12-40NZD
Australis: a very common brand in Australia and New Zealand, that ranges from about $8-$25NZD
BYS: very inexpensive, from $5-20NZD
ChiChi: Excellent lipsticks and eyeshadows, usually in the price range of $15-30NZD
Masquerade: good quality concealers and powders, from $14.95-$25NZD
Colormania: I got a large makeup box full of bronzers, eyeshadows, blush and pencil eye/lip liners for about $100NZD. I'm not sure if you can buy them anywhere except in the box though... I'll have to hunt them down.
For brushes, I like to use Manicare or Makeup Artiste, which both offer lower priced, good quality alternatives to the more expensive brands.
That's all for this blog post, and I'll start putting my face up on Monday.
